Frequently Asked Questions

Before you lease...

1. What is leasing?

Car leasing is like renting a vehicle from a dealership . Instead of paying the full cost you only pay for what you use, a customer agrees to pay the dealership a specific amount per month for a set period, often 24 , 36 to 48 months over an agreed annual mileage. At the end of the lease, customers can return the vehicle and order a new one.

2. What is Personal Leasing and how does it work?

Personal Leasing is a straightforward and affordable way of operating a vehicle when compared to buying a car outright. You don't own the vehicle you simply pay for what you use. You can configure your perfect car and get a monthly quote instantly on our stock page.

  • Initial payment is paid upfront and must be paid before the vehicle is ordered. This is typically equivalent to 6 monthly payments. This initial payment is then followed by fixed monthly payments for the remainder of the term.
  • Includes road tax and a  service plan which covers the first 2 services as per manufacturer guidelines. Full details of what is covered can be found in the protection brochure - www.joeduffyleasing.ie/maintenance
  • A Personal Lease customer will look after their own insurance and tyres.
  • The vehicle is registered to Joe Duffy and will be returned at the end of the contract term.
3. What is Business Leasing and how does it work?

Business car leasing or contract hire is a cost effective way for a business to run a fleet of vehicles of any size, from as little as one vehicle. You get the advantages of fixed monthly costs making it easier to budget and off balance sheet funding. By funding your fleet using lease or contract hire arrangements you can replace vehicles at fixed intervals ensuring you always have the most reliable and cost vehicles available.

  • Initial rental is depending on if the customer has a Limited Company or if they are a Sole Trader.
  • Minimum two years of accounts for a Limited Company and a minimum 2 years of self assessed tax returns for a sole trader. This is depending on the criteria of each  customer/company.
  • All inclusive service. Includes road tax, services and tyres. A Business Lease customer will look after their own insurance.
  • The vehicle is registered to Joe Duffy and will be returned at the end of the contract term.

1. What happens when my contract is due to end?

Once the contract is completely finished, you return the car or order a new one. Vehicles will be checked for damage outside of our fair wear and tear policy and for excess mileage. You can self assess any potential damage prior to returning the vehicle through our state of the art valuation app.

2. What happens if I go over my agreed mileage?

If you exceed your contract mileage, there will be an excess to pay at the end of the lease, charged per kilometre you drive beyond your contract mileage.

This will vary depending on the type of vehicle & length of the contract. If you think you may exceed your mileage at any time, please contact us to discuss options to avoid an end of contract charge by re-writing your contract to suit your changing mileage requirements.

3. What happens if I do less mileage than the contract?

Unfortunately, there is no refund on under mileage however we will take this into account if you are renewing your vehicle with us.

4. Why is there a charge for excess mileage?

If your contract runs over the agreed mileage you must pay for mileage you have gone over. The payment isn’t a penalty or fine it is simply a payment to cover the extra depreciation and wear the vehicle has taken on over the period of the lease. The excess mileage is typically the equivalent to the difference in the monthly rentals has you signed up to a higher mileage lease.

5. Will my vehicle be collected at the end of the contract?

At the end of the contract, you must return the vehicle to one of our experience centres which will be discuss with you at the end of the agreement. We can arrange home collection, if necessary,  the cost of which depends on your location.
