Irelands Best Selling Car Brand
As Ireland's best-selling automobile brand for the third consecutive year, Toyota finished the January passenger car sales month in first place. Toyota had a market-leading share of 16.25% in January 2023 after selling 4,446 passenger cars, more than 700 more than the next top seller. This resulted from the ongoing high demand for its hybrid electric vehicles.
Four of the top five best-selling vehicles in January were Toyota models, including the Corolla, Yaris Cross, Yaris, and Toyota C-HR. Toyota is profiting from the ongoing shift away from diesel toward greener options, with hybrid electrics accounting for 21% of the whole January market. Sales of hybrid vehicles in January were only 2.3% lower than those of diesel vehicles, which were at an all-time high. Also, over the past few years, diesel market share has decreased dramatically, going from 42.4% in 2020 to 23.2% in 2022. On the other hand, PHEVs made up 7.1% of the market, while gasoline made up 37.4%, and electric cars continued to rise, accounting for 13.8% of the market.
"Our January market share gives us confidence that it's going to be another successful year for hybrid electric sales", according to Steve Tormey, CEO of Toyota Ireland.
Toyota can meet all of its customers' needs with a car that fits their taste, lifestyle, and budget thanks to the market's largest selection of hybrid cars. Our hybrids are a wise environmental choice because to their low CO2 and little NOx emissions, as well as the added convenience of not requiring a plug to charge them. And our PHEVs expand that selection with an EV range of up to 80 kilometers on the RAV4. In addition, there will be still another compelling reason to switch to hybrid electric vehicles when exciting new models like the 1.8L Corolla Cross arrive at Toyota dealerships in the summer.
